  • Good plugin & Awesome supports team

We had an issue on about 20 sites where automation stopped working entirely. Thanks to the patience and understanding of Marko in support and Laurent, the developer, our problem is now fully resolved. A huge thank you to both of them!

  • Proble solved!

I always received the error message “Run aborted because no PID given!” although the backups had been complete. Thanks to Saransh and the support team I could test the new version 5.74 of BackwpUp which solved the problem.

  • Simply the best support on WordPress (even for free users)!

I am absolutely blown away by the quality of the support team at BackWPup. I ran into a complex backup issue on my site and they were incredibly fast, polite, and highly efficient in helping me resolve it. What makes this truly exceptional is that I am currently using the free version of the plugin. To be honest, I

  • Needs Improvement

BackWPup – WordPress Backup & Restore Plugin is a decent plugin that handles basic backups quite well. The setup is simple, and the automatic backup feature is definitely useful. However, the backup process can sometimes be slow, and a few advanced options feel a bit confusing. Overall, it’s a solid choice for

  • Even the free version is well-supported

when I was having issues setting up this plugin, their support team was a great help and advised me on how to escalate the issue with my hosting provider. Thanks to their assistance, my hosting provider fixed the issue and the plugin is now working. Thanks, backWPup! Aside from that, it’s really easy to use, with a

  • BackWPup IS BACK!

I’ve been using BackWPup for many years now, and it has always been one of my essential WordPress plugins. I’ll be honest: the transition to version 5 was difficult, and I did experience some issues at that time. But I’m really happy to say that today, the plugin is once again fully stable and working perfectly in my

  • Great plugin and great team

This is a plugin I’ve been using for years because it’s always performed better than its competitors. Furthermore, the support (even here on the free WordPress forum) has always been responsive and available. (Some paid software often isn’t as good at providing this type of support.) I’d also like to point out that

  • You have ruined a brilliant plugin

What have you done? You’ve ruined what was a brilliant plugin. There is now a horrible wizard and despite all my attempts I just cannot get it work. I implore you to revert to how it worked originally otherwise you will get more appalling reviews.

  • Works well

We’ve been using this for a long time, it has all the options we need. We just upgraded to the new version with the changed interface. It’s pretty disorienting, and quite different from the standard WordPress interface, but I was able to continue using it.

  • WARNING – CHECK YOUR INSTALLATIONS!!!

When the makers of this plugin removed the old job system and moved to the new version of the plugin and everything broke your old backups, they automatically enabled backups getting uploaded to your server in .tar format. These are in the /wp-content/uploads/backwpup/xxxxxxx/backups folder and are set to run every

  • Sadly Has Become Unusable

I’ve used this plugin for years in 50+ client projects. Unfortunately, since the revamp (v5) in February 2025 it has turned into a usability nightmare. The intentions behind the changes were probably good… maybe to make the tool more accessible for non-technical users? But the execution is a disaster. The developers

  • Backup tool saved me two times already

This is one of those plugins you don’t think you need until it saves your site. I had a bad plugin update that broke my admin area. Thanks to the backup tool, I restored everything in under 5 minutes. Later, I migrated to a new host again smooth restore, no downtime. Brilliant!

  • Excellent support

We struggled restoring 3 of our company websites and when I reached out to support, the time they had to work with me over 2 weeks of restoring and making sure we were back to running normal was just excellent. When I ended having to change my hosting plan again, they had the time to assist and that to me was

  • Good plugin and great support!

I’ve used BackWPup to restore my site before after bad crashes, and while this time it didn’t work (due to BlueHost imposing a 20GB storage cap which truncated an archive) their support was more than willing to help me out. When I found the source of the corrupted archive, they took my concern seriously and told me

  • Best support, great plugin

At first, the plugin wasn’t working. Support then took a closer look at my multisite installation. We were able to determine that the problem wasn’t with the plugin, but rather a bug in the multisite installation. After reinstalling the installation, everything worked perfectly.

I had very big problem on the site. During the restoration process, I got lots of help from them. Thanks again.

  • Excellent split backup with convenient restore utility

This was my first time trying the backup plugin. I found it very useful for backing up a site with a size limit. I needed a plugin that allowed me to split the backup into two or more parts and that included a tool for restoring the site to another domain with automatic URL replacement. It’s truly excellent and

  • Problem after Update

After the update, BackWPup stopped working. After consulting the hotline, I uninstalled and reinstalled the plugin. After that, BackWPup worked again. It was all very annoying and time-consuming. Now that the initial frustration has passed, I’m glad BackWPup is working again, as it is a useful plugin.

  • Why this big update?

It used to be my favourite backup plugin… before v5! Now, all my backups work seldomly. Sometimes, even the buttons or links aren’t reactive. Now, I’m looking for an alternative. Too bad! This topic was modified 1 year ago by Simon W.

The MainWP extension is no longer compatible with newly created backup jobs; only sites configured with legacy backup jobs continue to function.

  • Reliable tool with great support

I have been a user of thus plugin for years – and yes, I am paying for the “Pro” version in order to keep my two websites backed up on a regular basis. I am very happy with what the plugin does (which is exactly what it promises to do) and how easy it is to operate. Also – and this is very important to me – their

  • Terrible

Terrible what the new owners have done to this plugin as of version 5. They turned everything upside down. They removed half the features. The way you use it is completely different. It was a sophisticated machine, now it’s a child’s toy. Why would you buy a Mercedes and then try to make a Fiat out of it???
